Great Deal Samsung HCN653W 65-Inch Widescreen Projection HD-Ready TV

With this tv you can have top of the line performance with out the top of the line price. I have had mine for a few months now, and I would recommend it to anyone. The ONLY reason I gave this tv 4 stars is because of the component inputs. It has 3, but 2 of them are dedicated to High Definition. Meaning ONLY high definition components can be used. (like HD satellite) DVD players are NOT High Definition! So really it is like only having 1 component input. Kind of a pain when I have my Playstation 2 hooked up using components. (recommended) Now there is no place for any dvd player. That is why I got Samsung’s HD931. It has a DVI output that will go right into the DVI input in the back of my tv. (see what I mean about top of the line!)
The tv is simply great. I highly recommend getting satellite service, and the Samsung HD931 to take advantage of what this tv can do.
Good luck!

GREAT TELEVISION FOR THE MONEY – – ST. PAUL, MN
I have this TV paired up to a Samsung HD-953 DVI DVD player and the picture is terrific. This television is a beast, so make sure you do your measurements. It’s a piece of furniture in its’ own right. The set up is easy, and there are many, many useful inputs on the back. USE the DVI and you will achieve an excellent picture. This is a digital HDTV television, so the hardware interfaces much more positively with a digital input. I had one bit of trouble with the door on the bottom of the cabinet, and Samsung sent me the WHOLE door. I’ve had terrific experiences with their products in general. You cannot buy more television for this price.

Samsung HCN653W 65-Inch Widescreen Projection HD-Ready TV Specifications

No, it’s not as big as a real movie screen–but it will probably feel like it. Samsung’s rear-projection HCN653W offers a massive, 65-inch display in a widescreen format that’s specially configured to accommodate the native aspect ratios of favorite movies. The set’s dark-bezel, silver-gray cabinet makes it a great choice for stylish, big-screen entertainment in large rooms. And, when you’re ready to take on the world of high-definition television, just add a HD satellite/off-air receiver or an HDTV tuner to enjoy full-quality digital HDTV broadcast programming–the set features a DVI-HDTV interface so you can establish a direct, premium-quality digital connection with a DTV receiver.

Whether your passion is for DVDs, sports, or movies, the HCN653W delivers high performance and convenience. At the heart of the set, three high-resolution seven-inch liquid-cooled CRTs power Samsung’s RealFlect HD Fine Focus system, delivering highly focused illumination across the entire screen. PerfectFocus digital auto-convergence gives you convenient picture focus at the push of a button. Samsung’s Cinema Progressive Scan automatically upconverts all non-digital signals to a smooth, clear 720 lines of progressively scanned images.

An important element of Cinema Progressive Scan is 3:2 pulldown detection, which renders DVD movies in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

Samsung’s HD Fine Pitch screen further improves picture clarity, especially when viewing higher-definition video sources like DVD and HDTV. The fine-pitch, .52 mm screen brings out subtle image details otherwise unnoticeable on standard .72 mm pitch screens. Samsung’s Auto PerfectFocus auto-convergence system corrects picture focus at the push of a button. All onscreen information and menus appear in translucent overlays, letting you view video programs in the background while you consult the setup menus.

A total of 11 video inputs handles more than most of the sets out there and includes the DVI input mentioned above, three each composite-video and high-definition component-video inputs, two S-video inputs, and two standard RF inputs (for VCRs and cable boxes).

The set’s two-tuner picture-in-picture with stock-ticker modes lets you monitor up to 13 different channels simultaneously. Stock-ticker mode places the lower one fifth of the screen of one channel into another channel so you can view streaming text beneath the program of your choice.

The 15-watt-per-channel stereo audio system benefits from BBE Sound with a five-band equalizer, which is designed to enhance the sound from movies and music programs alike. Sound Mode Preset gives you the best dynamic sound settings for whatever you’re watching. Choose from standard, music, movie, speech, or custom.

A hinged door at the base of the set’s component shelf permits placement of two full-sized components (e.g. a DVD player and an HDTV tuner). The door uses a tinted window for passing remote-control signals, and openings in the back of the cabinet accommodate simple connection of cables and power cords.

Samsung has built a stellar reputation in the fine art of television manufacturing. Besides offering an incredible amount of value, the product itself easily competes head on with similar products costing hundreds of dollars more. How? Simple. Being one of the largest semiconductor manufacturers in the world has its benefits. Utilizing a high percentage of Samsung’s own parts allows it to focus the attention on high quality throughout the design. Result? A world-class product that truly dazzles the eye.

Samsung HC-P4752W 47-Inch HD-Ready Widescreen Projection TV Specifications

Samsung’s stylish, 47-inch HC-P4752W delivers a high-definition, big-screen picture from a casing little bigger than the screen and barely more than 2 feet deep. The rear-projection television is equipped with abundant standard- and high-definition inputs for use with the latest DTV set-top boxes, including a cutting-edge HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) with DVI (Digital Visual Interface) compatibility through an optional adapter cable. The set’s widescreen dimension is specially configured to accommodate the native aspect ratios of your favorite movies.

Whether your passion is for DVDs, sports, or movies, the HC-P4752W delivers high performance and convenience. Three high-resolution, 7-inch liquid-cooled CRTs power Samsung’s RealFlect video system, delivering highly focused illumination across the entire screen through incorporated features like HD Fine Focus lenses and a high-performance HD Fine Pitch lenticular screen with anti-glare protection. Samsung Auto Self Focus digital auto-convergence gives you convenient picture focus at the push of a button. The fine-pitch, .52 mm screen brings out subtle image details otherwise unnoticeable on standard .72 mm pitch screens. Auto pixel shifting reduces the risk of image burn-in.

An important feature is the set’s 3:2 pulldown detection, which renders DVD movies in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

Picture-format size adjustments include settings for wide (7 modes: auto wide, wide, panorama, zoom 1, zoom 2, normal, cinema 1, cinema 2) and settings for 4:3 aspect ratio viewing (5 modes: normal, zoom 1, zoom 2, cinema 1, cinema 2). Choose the perfect aspect-ratio mode for your current program, whether it’s sports, TV, or movies. The system will remember your last setting for each input.

The set’s 2-tuner, multiwindow picture-in-picture feature grants convenient, simultaneous viewing of 2 TV programs. PIP stock-ticker modes include large, small, stock ticker, and up to 13-picture multiwindow viewing for simultaneous monitoring of up to 13 different channels. Stock-ticker mode places the bottom fifth of one channel into another channel for viewing streaming text from, for instance, a cable news channel while you’re watching the local news on the rest of the screen.

A total of 11 video inputs handles more than most of the sets out there and includes the above-mentioned HDMI terminal, 3 composite-video and 3 high-definition (standard-definition compatible) component-video inputs, 2 S-video inputs, and 2 standard RF inputs (for VCRs and cable boxes). Side-panel inputs accommodate camcorders, gaming consoles, or other spontaneous hookups, while an RF output and stereo analog audio output foster hookup with DVRs or other recording devices.

HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link the set with any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver). HDMI supports standard-definition (SD), enhanced definition (ED), or high-definition (HD) video, plus multi-channel digital audio–all using a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports up to 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.

A 20-watts-per-channel stereo audio system features two 2-way speakers and benefits from a 5-band equalizer, which is designed to enhance the sound from movies and music programs alike. Sound Mode Preset gives you the best dynamic sound settings for whatever you’re watching. Choose from standard, music, movie, speech, or custom.

Finally, SRS TruSurround XT is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1-channel multichannel content over 2 speakers. TruSurround delivers virtual surround-sound through any 2-speaker playback system, including internal television speakers and headphones. It’s fully compatible with all multichannel formats up to 6.1 channels.

This set is equipped with discrete IR codes for use with an optional macro/programmable remote control (a universal remote is supplied).

Great Deal Samsung HLP5663W 56-Inch Widescreen HD-Ready DLP Television

After buying an Olevia 32″ LCD TV, I purchased this Samsung HLP5663W for the study for cinema-style home theatre viewing. This unit does the job quite well. Both of the aforementioned are great products. Color, brightness, contrast are very good, although an LCD or plasma screen would deliver better brightness. Out of the box the Samsung performed admirably; I haven’t even needed to fiddle with any of the color/tone settings. I’ll need one of the DVD color-testing kits to do that, but so far my eyes tell me everything is fine. I got the extended warranty for a marginal cost just in case the color-wheel optics or lamp fails. This unit provides HDMI/DVI and 2 component ports for just about any HDTV/DVD connections. Maximum resolution is 1080i, not 1080p, which Samsung will deliver in new models coming out in June, but at 0-00 more. Can’t wait to get the Cablevision digital box to receive HDTV through the DVI port. ExtremeTech rated this TV an 8! I matched this TV with an LG DVT418 600 watt tower DVD/home theatre system providing great surround sound. I also bought the matching TR63 stand from Amazon, which has the lowest price with shipping, amazing.

Do not buy Samsung – William D. Turnipseed –
I purchased a Samsung television about eighteen months ago. Two weeks ago the picture became all distorted. Since my television warranty was through Circuit City I had no choice but to call a television repair person out to look at it. As soon as he walked in the door he knew what the issue was. He told me that the part would cost almost as much as the television and that his recommendation was to throw away the television and purchase another one. After doing some research I discovered that there were quite a few Samsung televisions that were going out and that the parts were on backorder for about a month. Samsung was also not helpful. I trying to discuss this with SamsungTweets on Twitter, but he blocked me when I asked why nobody called me like he said they would. The only other answer I got from Samsung was that I needed to take it to a service center; this is after I told them that a television repair person had looked at it. From what I can tell from looking on television repair forums, Samsung televisions look to be pretty flakey.

The new 63-series further defines high-definition performance and are lighter and even more compact than previous designs. The secret to this engineering marvel – a compact digital projector powered by EMMY winning technology by Texas Instruments. Experience film-like video images with deeper blacks and more robust colors on DLP TVs by Samsung. Equipped with a host of advanced digital interfaces and video inputs, connectivity challenges and future proofing are a non-issue. Hang it, mount it, rest it on a stand or wall-unit, and simply move it anywhere anytime, its size and weight offers more placement possibilities over any other TV design. Finally, DLP TV by Samsung – fits where others won’t.

Samsung HLP5663W 56-Inch Widescreen HD-Ready DLP Television Specifications

Immerse yourself in big-screen adventure with Samsung’s 56-inch HL-P5663W. The television offers luxurious widescreen viewing, elegantly framed in an ultra-light, thin-bezel cabinet. Weighing less than 92 pounds and standing less than 15.6 inches deep, the high-definition-ready HL-P5663W offers more screen and less bulk than most projection sets. But it offers more than just quantity of screen: it’s also engineered for quality.

The secret to this DLP (Digital Light Processing) projection set’s quality is its Emmy-winning technology from Texas Instruments. Samsung has combined its proprietary Cinema Smooth Gen 3 HD light engine and advanced optic enhancements with a single, postage-stamp-sized Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) capable of generating high-definition video images with film-like resolution, deep blacks, and robust colors. Samsung’s Cinema Smooth light engine enhances brightness while ensuring an incredible 1,500:1 contrast ratio.

Texas Instruments’ DMD panel is immune to the factors that can cause other displays to deteriorate with use, imparting a longer life expectancy than that of cathode ray tube (CRT) sets, plasma display panels, and liquid crystal display systems (LCD, LCoS, HTPS).

A host of advanced digital interfaces and video inputs make non-issues of connectivity challenges and future proofing. Hang it, mount it, rest it on a stand, or move it just about anywhere, anytime. The screen’s surface is nearly 100 percent reflective, and its lightning-quick switching speeds make it twice as fast as earlier designs and nearly 1,000 times faster than competing micro-display technologies.

The HL-P5663W’s automatic digital-format conversion system converts any input (whether DTV, analog TV, or XGA computer sources at 1080i, 720p, 480p, or 480i) to a progressive, 16:9 widescreen image with a 1,280 x 720 pixel count. A 3D Y/C digital comb filter dramatically reduces image-edge artifacts while improving transition detail, and the set’s HD ultra-fine-pitch (.155 mm) screen further clarifies images, especially when you’re viewing high-resolution sources like DVD and HDTV.

Samsung’s Cinema Smooth Film Mode 3:2 Pull Down correction circuitry addresses digital distortion in 480i (interlaced) video signals generated from 24 frames-per-second film.

Finally, Samsung DNIe video enhancer (Digital Natural Image engine) works with all analog NTSC and wideband video signals for improvements in contrast, white level, and picture detail, incorporating digital noise reduction to improve lower-quality sources.

The set offers digital-video inputs in 2 formats. A DVI-HDTV interface with HDCP copy protection permits all-digital rendering of video without the losses associated with an analog interface, and an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) jack channels both digital audio and video to simplify connections with newer DTV set-top boxes and DVD players by reducing hookups to just a single cable and plug.

Other inputs include dual HDTV component-video inputs (480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i) for high-definition satellite receivers, HDTV tuners, and HD cable boxes with component video outputs (Y, Pb, Pr); 3 each composite- and S-video inputs; and 2 RF coaxial inputs for antennas or older VCRs or cable boxes. An audio/video output permits hookup with an external device such as a surround-sound receiver.

A 15-watts-per-channel (x2) audio system with a pair of 2-way speakers comes with built-in SRS TruSurround XT, which simulates compelling surround sound through any stereo playback system, including headphones and the TV’s speakers.

Last but far from least, onboard 2-tuner PIP with side-by-side split-screen viewing grants convenient simultaneous viewing of 2 TV programs, while a supplied universal remote control permits control of the TV, a DVD player, a VCR, and a tuner/surround receiver.

Great Deal Samsung HLP4663W 46-Inch Widescreen DLP HD-Ready TV Monitor

Both non HD and HD programming looks stunning. I compared this unit in the store to Plasmas and LCD’s and I also compared this TV to other brands like Sony and this TV absoloutly is awesome. I have it connected to my surround sound Infinity speaker system and my Harmon Kardon receiver which I think most people who purchase a TV like this would not use the TV’s built-in speaker system. DVD’s play crystal clear as well, as a matter of fact non-HD DVD’s look flawless. The set-up was very simple and the ease of use is fantastic! Could it be better? I guess but it certainly is not difficult. I do plan on purchasing another Samsung DLP HDTV in the future. Samsung TV’s are miles ahead of the competition in my opinion.

Quality picture, worst possible build quality and service. – Jesse A. Pomper – Pemberton, New Jersey
I purchased the 46″ DLP exactly 2 years and a month ago. 18 months or so after purchase the unit started shutting off by itself with the red lamp light flashing inconsistent times. On some nights it will barely stay on while it can go weeks without an incident. Again, very inconsistent. Called Samsung and the rep on the phone said “Sorry but that is not a known issue and you are out of warranty.”

Anyways, it’s a shame this problem is so common and deal breaking, because the picture itself is magnificent. I will not be purchasing another Samsung product after this mess.

Awesome tv – Nate Sutton – Iowa
Have had this TV for 3 years with no problems. I love it. It is on all the time and it just keeps going.

Samsung introduces the 3rd generation of leading edge DLP TVs already known for their award winning picture quality and compact design. The new 63-series further defines high-definition performance and is lighter and even more compact than previous designs. The HL-P4663W displays 46 inches of inviting widescreen viewing area that is elegantly framed in an ultra-light, thin-bezel cabinet. Weighing less than 70 pounds and less than 13.5 inches deep, the HL-P4663W offers more viewing screen and less bulkiness.

Samsung HLP4663W 46-Inch Widescreen DLP HD-Ready TV Monitor Specifications

The Samsung HL-P4663W combines cutting-edge picture quality with a 46-inch widescreen body that–unlike many other large TVs–doesn’t dominate the room. The TV weighs 69.4 pounds and is approximately 13 inches deep, so there’s no need to push back the couch to accommodate the chassis. Even better, the flat screen receives breathtaking high-definition content when paired with an external HD receiver, delivering a pixel count of 1,280 x 720 and a 1,500:1 contrast ratio. The elite video performance derives from the Texas Instruments-developed single-panel digital micromirror device (DMD) and DLP projection system, which combine to create a digital connection between the video source and the screen (most other connections are analog). The TV also employs Samsung’s exclusive Digital Natural Image engine, which enhances all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality, impacting contrast, white level, and picture detail.

The widescreen format is a favorite among movie buffs and HDTV fans, as the expanded screen offers a truer representation of the original film source. The HL-P4663W adds to the value by converting 1080i and 720p HDTV and 480p and 480i SDTV video signals to a 16:9 widescreen pixel count, letting users enjoy the enhanced format while watching all manner of programming. The TV boasts other impressive technologies as well, including Cinema Smooth 3:2 pulldown (improves the resolution of original film content), a 3D digital comb filter (enhances transition detail), and a bright ultra-fine pitch screen. And because the TV projects onto a single panel only, it eliminates the risk of color aberrations and focus problems often seen on projection TVs with multiple panels or CRTs.

As with many large-screen TVs, this model delights sports fans and TV buffs with its two-tuner picture-in-picture display. Viewers can watch one program on the main screen and another in the small inset window, or they can split the screens in half for simultaneous viewing. Other user favorites include format size adjustment (Zoom 1, Zoom 2, Wide, Panorama, and Normal), color temperature adjustment, a multilingual onscreen menu, previous channel, and V-chip parental control.

The TV is equipped with a 30-watt two-way speaker system and SRS TruSurround XT technology. The latter is a virtual surround engine that plays rich 5.1-multichannel content through two speakers, including internal TV speakers and headphones. TruSurround is compatible with all multichannel formats up to 6.1 channels. The TV also offers no shortage of inputs and outputs, including a DVI digital video input, an HDMI digital audio and video input, and a PC input, along with the usual stockpile of two component video inputs, three composite inputs, three S-video inputs, and a video output. The digital inputs are designed for the next generation of HD receivers and DVD players, which are built to transfer all signals digitally without losing any information via the conversion to analog. The TV includes an S-video and composite input on the side, where it’s more easily accessible for game consoles and camcorders.

I also would recommend using a HDMI cable to connect the TV to your cable box, it provides a superior picture than using the component cables (less image artifacts). I have an XBOX 360 connected and the games are beautiful. There is a problem watching XBOX 360 dvd on the LCD but I use the xbox for gaming. If using a Home theater system with a DVD make sure you buy Widescreen format DVD’s and configure your DVD player accordingly

So I don’t write many reviews, frankly I get sick of reading reviews that say, “I bought this yesterday and I just love it!” Of course you just bought it. Now if you loved it and it lasted for 20 years than that is a good product.

This TV lasted me 2.5 years. It is a poor product. Today it went out, the image is blurry and the video doesn’t work. I don’t think a new TV should need to be purchased every three years. So you may love this while you own it, but you won’t own it very long.

love it! – Eduardo Escobedo Jr. – Los Angeles, CA
this was my first flatscreen/hdtv…its been really reliable, great tv, i dont understand all the other reviews about it not supporting alot of their other devices….i have hooked up alot of things to it n it all worked perfectly, it has such a clear picture…the only downside which i wish i had been better informed of when i bought it is that it does not have an atsc(digital) tuner, it only has an analog tuner…but other than that its a great tv
