Great Deal Samsung UN55C6500 55-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV (Black)

I’m trying to understand how anyone could argue the video quality is nothing but superb. And 85% of a television’s overall rating/quality should come down to its picture. We purchased this TV on August 20th and received it today. The setup was easy, albeit as expected, it did not come w/ an HDMI cable.

I bought the TV for my parents at their house, and I currently have 2 Samsungs and 1 LG: (i) a 58 in Plasma purchased 1-year ago; (ii) a 46 LCD purchased 2-years ago; and (iii) a 42 in LG LCD purchased 1-year ago. While those tv’s are solid, this LED is hand’s down far superior. Just makes me wonder where we’ll be in 5-years in terms of technology.

As a few have mentioned, the Audio is not the best sound you’ve heard. As TV’s become slimmer, more compact, and economical, the emphasis is placed on video quality over audio quality. For my parents, the audio is perfectly sufficient – even for NFL games, movies, etc. If you’re a movie fanatic or total sports enthusiast, you’ll probably want to upgrade the audio, but it’s not worth giving this TV 4-stars on Amazon’s rating system. Just recognize the audio is perfectly fine more most uses.

I am not an expert, but to get this high-quality LED for ,799 (Costco currently has it at ,099), it’s a solid value. I do TV research about every 6-months, and can objectively say that over the last 2.5 years, it’s difficult to argue there is any other company better than Samsung in terms of overall HDTV value.

best 55 inches LED tv for your budget – Rowan Iskandar – boston, MA
Bought it to watch world cup. It’s an upgrade from my 32 inches sony bravia 720p. The TV is thin (looks fragile). It’s easy to set up the picture quality. Sound is ok. Overall, it’s a good buy for under 00 LED tv.

Amazing TV – G. Mason – Los Angeles, CA
I was not in the market to buy a TV until my 46″ Vizio died last week. I couldn’t beat the price vs features so I thought I would give it a try, although I was a little concerned in regards to the shine through on black that several of the reviews mentioned. I love this TV, although it was a bit eerie at first considering the picture was so sharp it looked like people were standing in room with you. The down side is that the picture is so sharp that in some programs filmed in HD it is easy to pick out what was filmed on set, sets look like sets. Even non HD programming comes through with amazing quality. I found that adjusting the settings takes care of much of the cloudy black that people have complained of, but in truth I rarely watch programming in a dark room so it really doesn’t apply to me. This is a great television and the price is amazing.

This review covers the 26inch HDTV and also a recently purchased 22 inch Samsung. Both are excellent sets with easy installation & exceptional picture quality. These sets are a part of our multimedia system where the main set is a 1.5 yr old 52 inch HDTV Samsung (also an Amazon purchase). All three sets have excellent TV tuners which seem to be a weak point on other manufacturer’s product and, so far, the reliability of all sets has been 100% which is consistent with industry reliability reviews.Samsung LN26C450 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black)

Good but poor auto timer ability – Michael R. T. Low – wellington, fl
The only issue is that the auto timer cannot be set to start up on the HDMI input and is is of little use if that is your input channel. Apart from that it is easy to set up and has an excellent picture.

After two weeks: We are on a cable box so the instruction manual to accommodate same isn’t easy to follow unless you have a teenager who can breeze through such things!
Setting up the connections is very simple and intuitive. BUT had a tough time getting the closed captions to appear and I’m still wondering why some of them are missing when the character is speaking and it is not just because there is a lag.
Adjusting the picture is ongoing for me because I’m not happy with the preponderance of darkness in some of the pictures.
The picture is crisp but when a pan takes place the edges blur a bit.
Would I send it back? NO! Compared to the 15 year old 27″ Panasonic it replaced (for the same price I paid in 1995!) I am happy to have such a great picture.

Good purchase – Usaa –
I decided on this purchase after doing some basic research on my current tv needs and I decided on this Samsung 1080p HDTV. I am pleased with the purchase that was made considering that it is replacing an old tv we had. I made the purchased about three weeks ago and the set-up was fairly easy. The purchase was made to go in our bedroom. I definitely would recommend this product. The price was right considering the price at other stores to be much higher.

Quit working – Calvin Clift – Little Rock, Arkansas USA
The TV was great while it worked. However it went to “black” the first week and we called Samsung, who had us UPS the new TV to them for repair. I spent a lot of money on a TV to not be able to watch it! We did get the TV back from Samsung, and it now works fine. I am suspicious that it is a “refurbished” unit as the TV had a “R” behind the serial number when I bought it from Amazon and I could not take it to a local shop, but had to mail it back to Samsung. At any rate I am happy with it as it is now.

Great Deal Samsung PN50C450 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV (Black)

I’ve had this TV for about 3 months now, and I really don’t feel like I’m losing out on anything spectacular because this set doesn’t do 1080p. I have HD service via HD DVR on cable, and I’ve never been disappointed with the picture quality of any HD content I’ve watched.

Even watching blu-ray disks, which is currently more or less the primary source for true 1080p content and which should really show off the superiority of 1080p just looks absolutely great on the PN50C450. I just don’t feel like I’m sacrificing much at all because this is a 720p set. I’ve been impressed with the picture quality especially considering that is has only roughly half the physical pixels that 1080p sets can display. I paid 9 and I’m pretty sure shipping was free, so the price was hard to beat. BB was actually matching the price I got through Amazon, but with free shipping via Amazon I saved the tax I would have paid locally and more importantly to me at the time, BB told me it could be something like 6 to 8 weeks before they could get it to the store and even that time frame they couldn’t guarantee. Amazon had a relatively short period where they couldn’t tell you when you might be able to get one but it got resolved that evening and I was able to order. I don’t know if there really was a short lived temporary shortage on these sets caused by a lot of people snapping them up or if there was some supply chain logistics issue that caused available stores of them to temporarily drop off the radar.

In any case, I wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend the PN50C450. I can’t imagine anyone finding serious fault with the picture and unless you’ve got money to burn I say why not pay 1/2 the price that you’d end up having to pay for a 1080p LCD when there’s no glaringly obvious picture quality shortcomings that would incline me to say that nothing but 1080p will do.

Comparing the PN50C450 to some other sets with similar features and even to some models in significantly more upscale price ranges at a local store display again never caused me to be anything other than favorably impressed. I was considering a Panasonic that was selling in the same price range or perhaps even marginally less expensive than the PN50C450, but the Panasonic’s picture was quite obviously horrible compared to the Samsung’s when viewed side by side. The Panasonic looked grainy/pixelated to me, making it stand out as PRETTY OBVIOUSLY 720p.

If value for the money is at all a factor in your buying decision then I believe it would be hard to go wrong with the PN50C450. Go see if you can look at one at a local store display and just take a look around to compare it to similarly priced plasmas from other manufacturers and some LCDs which at the same size would be a bit more expensive and I virtually guarantee that you’ll find the PN50C450 to be an incredible value.

No I receive no compensation for singing this sets praises, I’m just as happy as could be with my purchase and and I thought it was only fair for me to share how outstanding a value I perceive the PN50C450 to be. I simply can’t imagine anyone not seeing it as an incredible bang for the buck.

This Television is 1080p! – Sal –
After a ton of researching i finally decided to get this television. I was hesitant as pretty much everyone is to go for a 720p set. After watching digital cable on the set I noticed that many channels would come in in 1080i, so I said “I guess it outputs 1080i as well”. I finally connected both my Xbox 360 and my PS3 up to it and they both came in at 720p but when I went to the settings and set them to max resolution they both went to 1080p. I then put a blu ray in my PS3 and sure enough 1920×1080 resolution came up and man it looked beautiful. I contacted Samsung customer support today and sure enough they said that the site and box are typos and the actual specs of the tv are 1080p. I have no idea with so many reviews of this television circulating around the internet no one else has discovered this. So I guess what I am saying is if you are having trouble deciding between this and a 1080p set look no further this is a 1080p set and well worth the 0.00

Great Picture for 1/2 the price! – Tony H. –
I just received this TV on Saturday 7/24/10. I basically rolled the dice and relied solely on the reviews I read on Amazon. LCD, LED, Plasma? Which should I choose? I elected to go all price. So, I checked out the Amazon “Warehouse Deals” to see what was available. To my surprise, I was able to purchase this set (previously owned and returned) for only 9. I figured, what do I have to lose? I never once went to the big stores to even compare the picture, features etc. My feeling was this TV must have a nicer picture than my 8 year old projection TV that cost me 00.
When I opened the box, it took less than 5 minutes to connect everything which includes DirecTV HD Receiver and my surround sound.
The picture is PHENOMENAL! I don’t know why I waited so long to upgrade. 720 vs. 1080? Forget about it. You will not be able to tell the difference if you are the average person. All I know is I’ve got a quality product with an outstanding picture and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg.
Lastly, I was hesitant on choosing this particular model because of all the negative comments on the sound and how it was less than satisfactory. I don’t know what these folks are talking about. The sound is fine and even better when the surround sound is activated.
I couldn’t be happier. Do yourself a favor. Stop looking and buy one of these, you will thank yourself later.

I bought this almost as soon as it was available (ok, I waited a couple of weeks after it was released until the first package deal with glasses, 3-D DVD Player, and the stupid Monsters 3d movie), wanted to use it a while a while before I published a review.

I’ve had it about 4 months now, so it’s time.

This television ROCKS!!! The picture is amazing, *everybody* who sees it is instantly jealous. Then I tell the to look from the side, and they are again blown away…it’s 1″ thick! I mounted it on a power-tilt wall mount…as soon as it comes on, it tilts down form the wall, and back up when I turn it off. They sell the mounts on Amazon, but I was in too much a hurry and got it from a local big-box store (for more $). Definitely a great accessory for this set, and at 50 lbs you can use mounts meant for smaller sets (as long as the VESA is right).

There are a bunch of apps (which seem to want to “update” precisely when I try to show off this feature to my friends…not a great selling point, but if I used the apps more often it wouldn’t happen exactly when I was trying to show off!), that are neat and some are quite useful. It was easy to match my set to the different services. ***Computer required to look up website and enter your tv’s unique number before using app***. Netflix streaming rental app is really nice (although the movies for streaming aren’t the newest ones) and I ditched my Blockbuster mail-in service immediately after realizing their app only *sells* movies, no rentals, and the Netflix combo mail and streaming was cheaper anyhow. The YouTube app is great, have watched lots of those in full screen mode. Weather, traffic, and other stuff too. I tend to just watch TV on the set most of the time.

I bought the 3-D DVD player, too, which seems to have the same apps…so there’s too much redundancy for my taste there. Also, as soon as I turn on the DVD player, it takes over the TV immediately…that blows, sometimes I want to give the DVD a chance to warm up and get staged while I’m watching the end of something else. No *real* problem, just grab the remote and switch inputs again…but annoying for sure.

The sound leaves something to be desired…but what can you expect from a 1″ thick television??? I feed the output to a Samsung soundbar with wireless subwoofer and all is well!

Controls are pretty intuitive, all made sense. The remote is really neat and shiny silver, and there are strange (color a/b/c/d) buttons I have no idea what they do…but I could look it up if I wanted. They may be macros or something. The DVD player’s remote is similar, and can control some of the TV functionality, too…which I like.

3D is…well…there, and still under development by broadcasters. I haven’t done much with that, as there’s not that much to do. I didn’t realize some World Cup games were broadcast in 3D, or I would have tried to stand that horrible buzzing sound form those obnoxious horns to see how it looked. “Converting” regular signals to 3-D seems silly, but every now and then you can see an effect. A basketball game did look 3D-ish, for sure. The glasses are a bit less comfortable than I’d like, so I prefer to watch in 2D without them on. As channels are added with 3D, I may change my mind. The “kids” (adult kids) like messing with that stuff.

There is something about the picture…it’s so High Def, so “real”, that for a while everything looked like a soap opera. It’s hard to describe what I’m trying to say. Everything seemed to have that “soap opera feel” to it, some stuff was kind of uncomfortable to watch for some reason. We got over it, I guess, because we don’t notice it anymore…but visitors mention how “real” things look and I think they are noticing the same thing we used to see.

Very happy with decision to buy this from Amazon. Unit arrived exactly when it was supposed, to. The delivery guys called in advance, and were very polite. If I wasn’t going to wall-mount it, they would have taken it out of the box and set it up for me. I bought the 4 year Square Trade warranty from Amazon, too…repairing this thing only once would have to cost WAY more than the price of the warranty!

Very satisfied, very happy customer.

Love this TV! – Jennifer Miller – Michigan
I saw this TV in a store and was blown away by the picture quality. The price was too high so I didn’t buy it. I checked on Amazon and saw the price was almost 0 cheaper so I bought it here. We have not had any issues at all with the TV (had it since April 24th) and the guys that brought it into the house were great. They set it all up and took away all of the boxes.

ETA: I have not had any color/light bleeding..the picture is amazing!

Awesome! – N. J. Schreiber – Florida
I’ve had this TV for about 3 weeks now and all I can say is – Awesome!
Samsung must have fixed the issues some people mention because I do not see any bleeding light. I did a firmware update when I got the TV.

I bought an HD calibration DVD to set the picture and after I did that the picture is incredible. The default settings will kill your eyes.

The 3d movies look great and are fun to watch. I have played a few games on the PS3 in 3d and those look good and seeing the depth in games is actually great, I imagine Gran Turismo 5 and Killzone 3 in 3d will be insane!

The TVs internet connectivity is really cool too, I stream netflix directly from the TV. I can also connect any Hard drive to the TV (or use a wifi media center) to play all my media — really nice feature.

If your looking for a TV and can get the bundle set from Amazon with the blue-ray player, 2 glasses, a movie AND free shipping — get it!

No regrets with this TV at all

Tuner is very sensitive and captures a lot more channels than I expected without a cable box attached. I have researched every brand of TV via internet and store visit in the last 6 months and narrowed it down to Samsung. After deciding I wasn’t interested in 3D, I looked for the best 2D TV with the best Picture. With out a question, this is the best 2D TV on the market today. First, the out of the box plug and play was super easy. I was expecting to calibrate the settings and had CNETs suggestions ready. To my amazement the factory picture settings were almost spot on. The main take away from this review is that the picture quality is really the best I’ve seen. If there is only one con to this unit, like other LEDs, the picture’s colors do get slightly washed out at very extreme angles. Other than that no other issues (no corner ghosting). Even the sound I really believe is better than average, but I will upgrade to a sound bar for that theater/sports volume needed. Again, picture picture picture quality is amazing and you should buy this TV.

Bad Product, Worse Service – Ann R. Martin – Loveladies, NJ United States
On calling customer service (a misnomer), I observed the set had a white glow in the corners, which couldn’t be corrected by changing backlight settings. After several minutes, she returned to tell me that this “flashlight” problem should disappear in three weeks! A ,000 set! I reminded her it was more than three weeks old.

I asked for the hours of the service center. They weren’t on the samsung web site. She said she didn’t know and had no way of finding out. She then told me I couldn’t drive the set in but had to go to UPS and buy a box and mail it. So, talk to the manager trick. After a several minute wait, he said she was wrong, I could drive it in, but he didn’t know the hours either. Then, of course, wait to be transferred to someone else to approve the repair.

I think they have been taken over by the North Koreans and are hunting for ways to tick off customers.

Great Deal Samsung UN46C6300 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV (Black)

I have owned this TV for about 6 months now. When I bought it, I bought a Samsung Blue Ray player with it at the same time. The two products communicate well together, so I can use the TV remote primarily. Netflix streams in amazingly well through the Blue Ray player, so it has become my primary source of entertainment. The HD content on Netflix looks great on the TV. “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels” streams in at HD quality and it looked incredible!

What I like:
-It is thin, and with the specific wall mount, it sits right against the wall.
-It doesn’t use much energy. It has had little to no effect on my electric bill. I upgraded from a really small TV and was expecting an increased cost, but the bill has only gone down. You will need to play with the display setting in order to see the savings though.
-The picture is amazing. The color and black levels are great.
-Versatility: HDMI, Component RCA, VGA, and USB port all work great. The USB media player works well, but some videos formats don’t work. Check the owner’s manual to find out what formats work.

Dislikes:
-There is a lot of glare. It falls between a matte finished LCD and a glass finished Plasma TV.
-The premium cost.
-The “Anyconnect” technology between the two Samsung devices can be annoying. It is sometimes finicky and the Blue Ray player freezes occasionally because of it.
-The “Settings” interface can be confusing. It can be difficult to find specific settings, so make sure the owner’s manual is readily available for referencing.
-You will need to develop a cable management system to keep the wall looking clean.
-Due to the slim nature of the TV, all my other equipment looks gigantic now.

Overall, I love the TV and would recommend it to anyone. My living room feels much larger now because it is not being taken up by a TV and cabinet anymore. Buy a regular LCD though if you don’t need or care for the slim nature of the TV (you will save a few hundred dollars for equal quality equipment).

Great Product – Nicholas Lee – New York, NY USA
I gave this item 4 stars because the product itself is great. Great clarity, great vision. Honestly, a great product overall. With that being said, i could not give this product a bad review based solely on the price. The prices offered for this product are relatively high. Consider that when purchasing. Your best bet is to go on to the electronics-expo site. they have this offered for 60 (with coupon NLHD) with FS. Great product, but if youre gonna get a TV, go big or go home. I recommend the 55″ if anything. For a bit more money, the extra inches are worth your while.
