Great Deal Samsung LN52A630 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

I researched what I wanted and watched 52″ Samsung LCD TV prices like a hawk for about 9 months. I ended up getting a used 52A630 back in May of 2009 through Amazon Warehouse Deals. While it was a bit of a headache at times to go through Warehouse Deals, it all ended up okay as I got a great TV that has been working flawlessly so far.

I saved a good 0-0 by going through Warehouse Deals. But I had ordered a 52A650 from them in April 2009 that I rejected upon delivery due to a problem with the screen. I risked going with them again and after a bit of a struggle with delivery I ended up with a great find in this 52A630.

The people at Warehouse Deals were at the very least helpful and willing to do as much as they could do to help.

As for the TV–couldn’t be happier with its performance! The picture looks amazing with our HD cable. I’m looking forward to my next purchase of a Blu Ray player to use with this!

Great Deal Samsung LN52B550 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

The picture is amazing when a 1080i or 1080p source is playing. It’s like being in a movie theater. 720p is soft and 480p is softer and you can really see the difference of 1080i/1080p vs 720p and 480p on a screen this big.

Controls on the remote are pretty easy to understand. Color controls are very good. There are 3 settings depending on the ambient light and you can quickly switch from 1 to the other. Screen controls are also easy to understand and easy to switch back and forth from 16:9 to “wide fit/screen fit” depending on the signal.

The two things that I have a slight problem with are the connector tube to the stand and the design of the remote. The tube could be sturdier. The remote handle curves down and out (sort of like the old Star Trek phaser grip) and this causes the remote to drop off the coffee table onto the floor if you don’t take the time to put it EXACTLY entirely on the table. Annoying when you just want to watch the show/movie/game.

The sound coming from the unit is good but I plan on hooking it up to a home theater system.

Overall, I think the Samsung is an excellent unit and purchasing from Amazon Warehouse is a fantastic way to save lots of money!

In early 2009 I purchased a LN52A550 LCD HDTV from Amazon which was delivered by Pilot trucking, who also set it up. At the time I noticed that some input jacks were not functioning but didn’t complain until I got my wife a Wii and needed tmore jacks. A week later they replaced circuits so the jacks would work. Several weeks later the TV began turning itself on and off, requiring another warranty repair. More recently, on April 8, 2010, it was still turning itself on and off so I again called Samsung to schedule more repairs. At that time I was told both verbally and via several e-mails that the warranty covered it but that the warranty would soon expire on Apr. 30. On Apr. 23, not having heard from the repair people, I again called Samsung. They told me that the warranty had expired on Apr. 1 and that any repairs would be at my expense. When I pointed out that I had several e-mails from them stating that my warranty would not expire until Apr. 30 and that the e-mail’s could be used as evidence in court, they put me on hold until finally agreeing that they would honor the Apr. 30 expiration date. I am very troubled by the fact that they backdated the warranty expiration in hopes that I would pay for the warranty repair. That was clearly illegal. I am also disturbed by the cronic failure of the TV. For tose reasons I will never buy another Samsung product nor recommend threm to anyone.

Great Deal Samsung LN52A550 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

I’ve had this TV for about a year now, and there are no problems whatsoever. Picture quality is awesome. HD comes out crystal clear. Before purchasing this TV, I looked at the 6 and 7 series, Sony XBR8, and some plasmas. All had very good picture quality, but not enough to be worth the extra hundreds of dollars. I watch mostly sports, and a lot of people say that the 60 hz isn’t optimal for it. I think it’s fine. The lag isn’t very noticeable unless you compare it side by side.

Sound quality is pretty good considering that they’re TV speakers. At factory settings, they were a little mid-y, but it can easily be adjusted through the menu to produce decent sounding speakers. If you want the best sound, you shouldn’t be listening through a TV anyway. So for what it is, the sound is pretty good.

Features-wise, the 550 is much more limited than the 750, but I figured I’m not going to do much with the TV besides watching it. I think one neat feature of the 750 is that it can be hooked up through a LAN so that your computers can communicate with your TV. I don’t really need that though, so the 550 was perfect for my purposes.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with my purchase. This is one of Samsung’s cheapest, full 1080p TVs out. I recommend it to anyone that’s looking for a TV, but is on a budget.

Great set until the trouble starts – Rock’n'RollSteve –
When I purchased this set in Dec. of 2008 I was quite pleased overall but now, 13 months later, there is nothing but frustration with this set and the Samsung company. I woke up one morning and tried to switch on the set to watch the news but it wouldn’t turn on right away as per usual. It started making a clicking sound as if it was trying to power up. It finally came on after 4 or 5 minutes of said clicking but when it did come on the picture had a pink/purple tint to it and the sound on the set was totally out (the built in speakers as well as the audio out RCA jacks). I immediately went to research this problem on the internet and found hundreds of posts from people complaining about the same trouble with a lot of models from Samsung (try it yourself…google “samsung + power + clicking + trouble” without the quotes). So far Samsung has been of absolutely no help and they even go so far as to not even acknowledge that there is a problem.

Maybe by this point in time they have resolved the issue so the newer models will not be as troublesome but you never know. As for myself I will never purchase another Samsung product.

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. This TV is nice, and has great bang for your buck. It offers 120Hz support and displays picture that is ever so clear on Blu-Ray movies. It is almost like looking through a window. The pictures are so clear and crisp that you could see hairs on female’s faces that you would otherwise not see on a regular tube based TV and that the actress would not want you to see. You can see male’s pours on their face and every cracks on a dog’s nose. The 120Hz displays movies at a very smooth motion. This TV works well when playing a game on a PlayStation 3, So if you have this console, why not get this TV, it was like they were made for each other.

Poor Quality Unit… Breaks after warranty period – Alexander Herrero – South Florida
I purchased this unit in December of ‘07. I was very happy with the unit until 12 months after I purchased it when it started to develop the classic red line from top to bottom on the left side of the screen. We called Samsung and thankfully at the time it was just out of warranty and they replaced the entire panel, leaving basically just the bezel and connection boards. So I thought everything was wonderful. Now its been about 12 months since the repair and guess what… The backlight on the unit has now gone bad. This time its out of warranty. I paid 00 for this unit… this is the first time I’ve ever had something so expensive go bad so quickly. Its a shame. I just bought a Samsung Washer and Dryer. If I have even one problem with those I’m never going to buy another Samsung product again. They are just too flaky. I’m so dissapointed.

I received my TV March 2cd, 2010! I hooked this Tv up to my Comcast HD cable and the picture is amazing! Words cannot discribe how much I am enjoying this TV! My husband was the one who told me to buy it and I am so happy that he did! I have always been a fan of Samsung. I bought a 40inch Samsun LCD from Amazon last year as a mother’s day gift to myself and have been enjoying that TV also, but this Tv shows a much better picture than my Samsung 40inch LCD and I didn’t think that Samsung could do much better! I was wrong people!

This Tv is so amazing that I have it hooked up to a regular Sony 5 disk DVD player and I am telling you all that my old dvd movies on an old DVD player looks like an HD movie! Unbelevable! How is that possible? This TV is one of the great loves of my life! I have this baby hooked up to a sony surround sound system and everyone that comes over says that they feel like they are at the show! I know what they mean! My husband and I have been watching a new movie on this bad boy everyday since we got it!

The remote is great! I LOVE IT! The remote has a lot of command buttons on it. The color is beautiful. I love the night light on the remote. The remote fits well in your hands.

Another reason why I bought this Tv is because I wanted a touch of color (red)! I have red drapes in my living room where this Tv is resting at and it looks amazing! At first when I first saw the touch of color a year ago in red I thought what a crazy idea for a TV cabinet! Boy was I wrong! This touch of color makes the TV stand out and looks that much more expensive!

I haven’t hooked any game units to this tv yet so I cannot speak on it or a BluRay but when I do I will give you all an update about the picture quality. I’ve spent two years looking for an LCD HD TV. While I had found several I liked the look of there was always something that didn’t quite work. Sometimes specs, sometimes performance and sometimes price. When I found the LN52B630 it had everything I was looking for, great specs, great reviews and a great price. I’ve had the TV for about three months now and couldn’t be happier with it. It looks geat in the living room, it has a fantastic picture, the matte finish screen virtually eliminates glare (a problem with a glossy screen in my environment) and performance has been excellent. I purchased the TV in a bundle with the Samsung BD-P1600 blue ray player and am very happy with the way the two work together. The player will automatically set the TV screen mode to the optimal setting for the source material.

Great Deal Samsung LN52B750 52-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LCD HDTV with Charcoal Grey Touch of Color

After a great deal of research on my part, I decided on this particular monitor for my application. I had a space constraint, yet I wanted as big a picture possible. I was upgrading from a 40″ Samsung.

Amazon’s price was the best of all the online dealers. The monitor arrived without any issues incurred while in transit. This thing is heavy and bulky, so two people may be needed to remove it from its box.

The monitor performed flawlessly out of the box. The picture is the best I’ve seen. I have had several Samsungs and Sharp flat panels. Both makers are good. The Samsung has a movie picture mode that really makes the picture stand out. I’m a very critical viewer, so my first several hours of watching it I was looking for any and every flaw, but none were visible.

Its a beautiful piece and looks nice even when not in use. The internet access works great although I have yet to download any content except from NetFlix.

My only reason I gave it four stars and not five is it seems I have to turn the volume up quite high to hear subtle, low volume conversations. Then, when louder portions of the content are played at that same volume, I seem to hear some distortion from the speakers.

I haven’t had time to check into this further. I will in the near future and update my review. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase.

Excellent Picture, Decent Functionality, Poor Build Quality – Michael Alexander – Hoboken, NJ
I, like many others in these spaces, chose between this TV and the Sony KDL-XBR9. I immediately noticed that the colors on the Samsung “popped” a bit more than on the Sony, although it could be because of the glossy screen (which, by the way, is highly reflective). Take the fact that the Samsung was 0 cheaper, and it became a no-brainer.

The picture is, without a doubt, the best I have ever seen. Out of the box, the picture is pretty good, but when you play with the settings and tailor it to your specific viewing circumstances, you’ll be seriously rewarded with an amazing picture. The separation of dejudder and motion blur is a great feature as well, for those who want a fine mix of the two. If I could, I would give the picture a 6/5.

Connectivity is great, with 4 HDMI inputs and 2 USB inputs. The side panel houses the 2 USB inputs and 1 of the HDMI inputs, but it is recessed enough to keep things plugged in without exposing the wires. I have only viewed pictures on the screen, so I cannot adequately assess the ease of playing music/movies off external drives. Yahoo widgets are painfully slow to start and run, so much so that they are basically useless. Samsung also throws a few internet extras in as well that you can either take or leave. 4/5 in that category, although I suspect the widgets are as much Yahoo’s fault as Samsung’s (and to be fair, they were equally slow on the Sony).

Now comes the poor part of the review. I have this TV hanging on a wall, and I used a right-angle HDMI connector so I didn’t have to smash my HDMI cable against the wall. One day, it simply stopped working, and when I removed the TV from the wall, the connector seemed to have melted a bit, which was worrysome. A few days later, a random buzzing would occur when I turned the TV on, and abruptly stop when the picture came on. Finally, a week and a half ago, the TV would turn on and completely stop responding to anything – bright spots/lines would appear on the screen, and I was unable to access the menu, change inputs, or anything else. A tech came to my house and replaced the timing board, which corrected the problem immediately. However, he also said he would have to come back and replace the power board, because the buzzing indicated that it may die soon.

I understand that every now and then, a lemon is had. However, of the 4 major parts of the TV (panel, timing, power, inputs), 2 have had to be replaced already, so I’m basically stuck with a 45 day old refurbished TV (all of the problems coincidentally came just after the 30-day return window). I intend on keeping it, as (hopefully) the power board will be fixed and everything will work like new, because the picture is absolutely sublime. What happens in a year, when I’m out of my warranty? I shudder to think of the stories that Samsungs fail to turn on correctly about 18 months after use. I know that all brands have their deficiencies, and I also know that I was one of the unlucky ones to get a lemon (although, it is being fixed, so I can’t be too picky). However, I’m fairly certain that this will be my last Samsung product.

On the bright side, while Samsung’s customer service won’t be winning any awards anytime soon, they were relatively helpful (maybe it’s because I’ve heard all of the horror stories) and not completely incompetent. They assigned the case to a tech, and now I deal directly with him. Silver lining, right?

The TV gets an infinite amout of positive starts for an unbelievable picture, and a corresponding amount of negative stars for the build quality of my set. 3/5 seems fair.

Like many other reviewers, I am a big SONY fan. However, when I saw the LN52B750 in store, hanging next to the SONY XBR9, I told myself that the Samsung looks better and its colors look more natural than the SONY. But I didn’t see anything when my wife came over. Later she told me that she thinks the Samsung looks a little bit better. So we finally gave Samsung a try. It turned out that this TV is what every TV should be. It is very easy to setup. It provides two USB connections. That means you can put in any kind of media device, compact flash, SD, SDHC, or even the camera directly. Unlike some other TVs, they provide a SD or memory stick slot. Therefore, your choice is limited. It also has some built-in contents such as recipe, kids stuff, etc. I have been enjoying this TV for three months and have not regretted at all for switching from SONY to Samsung.
